Emotion-based Place Setting

Emotion-based Dinnerware
The idea behind this project was to create a place setting comprised of a cup, plate, and saucer that were all designed to evoke three specific words that were chosen at random.  The pieces needed to work well individually and as a complete set.  In this case the words were: relaxed, substantial, and spacious.
Sketching was the primary method used to work out how the plates would exist from the overhead and a side profile view.
After working out the form through quick sketches, the project was moved into SolidWorks in order to create a more interactive visualization.  A combination of solid-based and surface-based modeling was used to create the form. Modeling the plates in 3D also allowed me to easily and quickly create several batches of color variations.
