Genus Lounge
an experiment, a chair, a lounge of great proportions. 
This chair was inspired by the compound curves of the Eames era, but in its most preliminary, experimental form. The curves arose from a single sheet (of chicken wire) folded and worked into a desirable shape. This was then covered in an industrial paper mache-type material followed by plaster to achieve a smooth surface quality. The heavy, sculpted form was then used as a mold for sheets of fiber glass. This chair is the member of a completely hand crafted family of furniture, through all of which a different problem has been created and solved. I am proud to have produced such an experimental piece in four weeks.
