Founded in 2012, Decoy Magazine is a publication project that engages artists and writers in Vancouver, BC. With an emphasis on social and political contexts, our mission is to foster a critical dialogue among local arts and culture through the publication of artist portfolios, essays, interviews, and reviews. The name Decoy is inspired by the intent to attract attention, serving as a prompt for viewing, engagement, critique, and response.
The Decoy Circular Element acts as the official brandmark for the magazine. It was inspired by the quest to balance critical discourse and opportunities for Vancouver's art community. The simple form and shapes were used to convey the brand's equilibrium.
We chose a unique combination of urban grey and fern green for our colour palette, representing Vancouver's topography and the birthplace of Decoy Magazine.
