Surge BFA Poster
Every year, NKU hosts a show for it’s BFA seniors to exhibit their final body of work. With the 2011 year, the first exclusively design show, known as Surge, emerged.
It’s name represents the energy of design, and the emergence of new careers into the work force. The design of this collaborative poster focuses on that energy, represented in theform of precision. This design breaks down the meticulous process of balancing typography, imagery and graphic elements. The focus is centered on two of the most basic, yet vital, tools a designer will use to accomplish visual harmony—the X-acto blade and the grid.
The ruler on the right is not only a reprsentation of measurement, but a symbol to the main stages Visual Communication students of NKU go through to reach graduation, with the boldest lines being the defining moments of review (Admittance, BA, BFA).
It is a testament to the dynamic thought process and energy of a designer.
