sumi-e dabbles
a short venture into ink painting

This is what happened after a few tries of trying to learn ink painting from some books.  Not great work, but I like the results okay and like the art form a lot.  Most of these were painted from a book, Japanese Ink Painting: The Art of Sumi-e by Naomi Okamoto, as noted below.  I'll try to dig up some original compositions.
pussy willow, 11 x 14, c. 2007.
From Okamoto's book, p. 32.
bamboo, 18 x 24, c. 2007.
A combination of examples from Okamoto's book, p. 27 and p. 29.
plum, 18 x 24, c. 2007.
From Okamoto's book, p. 30 (mostly).
pine, 11 x 14, c. 2007.
From Okamoto's book, p. 33.  Obviously, I need much more practice.
cat, 14 x 11, c. 2007.
From Okamoto's book, p. 83 (but with the markings of my cat, Nemesis).
