"50 Shades of Green [the fine art of unf*cking the country]" is a portrait of Adam Bandt, Federal Member of Melbourne, and The Greens Party.

In recent years, due partly to frustration with the current government and it's policies, as well as having started my own family, I have become more interested in politics. I find that my politic views are similar to that of The Greens.

As such, I approached Adam and asked if he would be interested in sitting for a portrait, and if he would provide me with 50 points/policies he believes would make for a better, fairer and more sustainable future for Australia. Please find those 50 points below:

1. Stronger national environment laws
2. Protect national parks
3. Protect native forests and wilderness areas
4. Protect endangered species
5. Protect the Great Barrier Reef
6. A safe climate 
7. Reinstate a price on pollution
8. 100% renewable energy
9. End nuclear energy and nuclear power
10. Fund public transport rather than roads
11. Build high-speed rail
12. A stronger focus on preventative health
13. Affordable health care for all – protect Medicare
14. Universal dental care – Denticare
15. Treat ‘boat people’ like people
16. No children in detention
17. Process refugee claims as quickly as possible
18. Give refugees in Australia the right to work and study
19. End mandatory detention
20. Don’t send refugees offshore
21. Restore overseas aid 
22. Recognise indigenous Australians in the constitution
23. A treaty with the First Australians
24. Keep indigenous Australians out of jail by improving education, drug and alcohol programs and secure housing
25. Equality for everyone
26. Equal pay for equal work
27. Equal marriage rights for all 
28. Stand firm on a woman’s right to choose an abortion
29. Help get more women in Parliament
30. Maintain Australian foreign aid programs that support women’s reproductive health
31. Increase funding for public housing
32. Respect, protection and rights for animals
33. Cut the cost of childcare by boosting public funding
34. Respect for single parents
35. Stop the expansion of coal and coal seam gas mining on farm land
36. End tax breaks for the big mining companies
37. Support local growers and farmers
38. Increase the dole
39. Strengthen labelling laws to make it easier to buy locally grown food
40. Help manufacturing become more energy efficient
41. A clean economy driven by research and innovation
42. Tackle job insecurity
43. Better work/life balance and more control over working lives
44. Well-funded universities
45. Universities for all, not just the rich
46. More funding for TAFE
47. More money for public schools
48. Provide more support and professional development for teachers
49. Invest more in science and maths education, as well as Asian languages
50. Boost investment into science and research
