Designing the Artwork for "To The Treshhold" has been a journey of rebuilding the looks of an uprising Czech Drum and Bass Label, Forbidden Society Recordings. It was founded by Jindrich Brejcha in 2010, after earning large success as a DJ & producer "Forbidden Society", and releasing on many influential DnB labels throughout the years.
The label is dedicated to the hard side of this music genre, which might not be everybodies thing, but certainly catched my Metal-educated attention early on. When I was asked to create an artwork for FSRECs first album, to be released on on a 3x12" vinyl album & CD, I couldnt but jump on it immediately.
The aim of this project was to reinvent the distinct dark feeling of the labels previous Artworks and give it a face, an Avatar to be identified with and to transport the feeling & style of the music. The Flipside of the album has been contributed by Tokio-based manga artist KIKAI and colored to match the main artwork.
