User Experience Process & Building Blocks

Here I will show some process building blocks for different companies and projects I have worked on. Without research and documentation there would only be form and function.
Use Cases
In software and systems engineering, a use case is a list of actions or event steps, typically defining the interactions between a role (known in the Unified Modeling Language as an actor) and a system, to achieve a goal.
IA Mapping
One of the first steps along the way to to map out a site using Balsamiq or Illustrator to obtain a mapped out version of a site’s information architecture. It is particularly important to visualize the differences between internal links going up and down the hierarchy, and types of pages such as entry pages, parent and child pages, error pages and so on...so it’s best to use distinct colors and a key or legend for complex sites such as the example below from my Microsoft Partner Incentives site audit.
User Flows
Design flows that are tied to clear objectives allow us to create a positive user experience and a valuable one for the business we’re working for.
Styleguides
A style guide, is a set of standards for the design of documents, web pages, or media. The reason for their existence is to ensure complete uniformity in style and formatting wherever the brand is used to ensure no dilution of that brand.
Wireframes
Wireframing is an important step in any screen design process. It primarily allows you to define the information hierarchy of your design, making it easier for you to plan the layout according to how you want your user to process the information.
Redlines
Laying out specifications for new designers and developers to follow in creating web page designs and layout changes.
