Facial Expressions Fanzine

FANZINE'S THEME

The idea of this fanzine is to basically create an interpretation of facial expressions through the textures of different fabrics. A captivating collection of portrait photography ranging from infants, to children, adults and old men, is included. The fanzine portrays a link between the various different expressions presented in the portraits and the wide range of fabrics since both the feel of textures and sight of colors influence our mental attitude in many subtle and not so subtle ways.

Fabrics along with colors make impressions on all of our senses, and are often strongly associated with different emotional states and facial expressions.

FANZINE'S DESIGN CONCEPT

Hence, the fanzine’s design aims to let the reader mentally create a link between the texture and color of a a certain fabrics with the portrait that is viewed right after. The reader might as well guess the facial expression he/she are about to see on the next page, as soon as they touch the fabric presented right before.

Portraits are divided into 5 sections, depending on age and gender. The beginning of a new section is marked with a transparent sheet with a quote written, expressing the first portrait of the category.

Topics relevant to Portrait Photography and Facial Expressions as well as Paul Ekman’s famous studies on the subject are included in the text on the left pages.
