Dad's Old Fashioned Root Beer Repackaging

Dad's Old Fashioned Root Beer
A repackaging of Dad's products
For a food and beverage repackaging project for a packaging class, I redesigned the packaging for Dad's Old Fashioned Root Beer. Arriving upon the 75th anniversary of Dad's Old Fashioned Root Beer Company, I decided to do a nostalgic throwback to the 1940's and 1950's. I used old-fashioned glass milk bottles that are a bit larger than your typical soda bottle, and the vibrant colors from the liquid inside are easily seen to draw the consumer's eye to the products on the shelf. On the side of each bottle, is an illustration of a different man; a different dad. Under each illustration is a 'Dad-ism'; something a person may have heard from their father while growing up, with a sarcastic spin to it. They can be collectable.

An additional twist to the packaging, there is a tab on label on the front of the packaging, secured via a velcro tab, where part of the label can be lifted back to reveal another section underneath. Here customers can see all the different flavors the brand comes in, as well as a customized QR code that, when scanned with a smartphone, will take the customer to the Dad's official website. Consumers are encouraged to share their favorite memories they have of their dad while growing up through this QR code.
