Toprunner
Toprunner is a transport basket for small animals and a nice example of functional product design that has shown to be successful on the market. During the design, I focused on both the user and the animal. Special attention was paid to the 'social aspects' of the product : a playful look and round forms ensure that the animal can feel secure; at the same time, the interaction between human and animal is facilitated through the transparent top lid.
The lightweight transport basket not only looks nice and 'cozy', it also features optimized transportation and storage properties. Perfect stackability of both components separately, as well as the full-assembled sets, result in highly efficient use of the available volume when distributing to wholesale and retail.
Project was done while employed at Cides, from the first quick sketches through complex surface modeling to final engineering.
