Allstate Mayhem Radio

After the Allstate "Mayhem" campaign was sold in with :30 TV scripts, I was tasked with translating the film campaign to radio. These scripts were often customized to local markets so the risks would resonate with local consumers. Over 100 of my Mayhem scripts made it to air. And many, many, MANY more made it to a trash can. Here are just a few of my favorites that did the former, and won multiple Radio Mercury Awards including Best Radio Campaign.
"Courteous Driver"
Portland is consistently ranked as having some of the most courteous drivers in the country. That's not always a good thing.
"Kudzu"
This fast-growing weed wreaks havoc on the South. It will get inside your car, and your mind.
"Sun"
The sun isn't sure what you want from it.
"Beach Volleyball"
Summer brings a shiny, new distraction to the shores of Chicago.
"Leaky Pipe"
Turns out watching one YouTube video doesn't make you a professional plumber.
"Pollen"
Mother Nature's cruel joke.
"Mayhem's Greatest Hits"
When iHeart Radio offered up the chance for Allstate to simultaneously own over two hours of commercial time on radio stations across the country, we knew we couldn't just run our typical Mayhem ads. Instead we decided to play with a favorite convention of radio, the greatest hits countdown, and use to it look back at some of Mayhem's greatest moments throughout history. Like any epic story, it takes awhile to listen to, but trust me, it's worth it.
Ok, ok, you're short on time? Here's a video showing how the program broke the typical radio station advertising model.
