MEDICIENT

Medicient is a serious board game that makes use of many serious game techniques and gamification.  Its overall purpose is to help medical students prepare for their exams in the 1st half of their undergraduate university courses.  The purpose of this board game is to help students study and prepare for examination through use of gamification.  This shall allow for greater retention of the information related to their subject.

All materials and assets, with the exception of the die and character pieces, were made by the development team.  Assets were illustrated with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop before prepared to print.  The die would be sourced by the player and the character pieces would be anything the players themselves would wish to use.

The players shall make their way round each level of the game, following the rules of any game space the fall upon.  Eventually they shall be allowed to make their way up the board, where they shall then have to answer a question once they reach the centre of the board if they wish to win.  A live games design document was produced during the development of the game, as well as a rule book to accompany the game for use by the players of the board game itself.
The board for Medicient itself is not flat, but in fact 4 levels that are elevated above one another as the board comes in parts.  Each part is placed on top of one another in order of size.

This game shall promote serious gaming as an effective educational tool and presents endless possibilities for creating serious games for education.
