Cube-S

Guide: Asst. Prof. M. Madhukaillya

During my Design Project 2, I was supposed to enhance the experiences of storytelling. I studied the structure of Panchantantra as it is most widely known stories and had been running for many centuries. I also studied the Morphology of Folktales by Valdemir Propp to understand the narrative structure of storytelling.

Into my project, i have taken one of the most well known stories from panchatantra, tried to identify the narrative elements and anatomy of story. Also made a prototype on one story. The story of Monkey and Crocodile.

Cube-S consists of 3 cubes. Each side of cube has a narrative element  or a scene from the story. These narratives are present in such a way that we have to arrange them in proper order to make the story. Hence there is a possibility of 6 X 6 X 6 combinations of stories. Not all of them have a proper meaning, yet they are stories in themselves. The arrangement of different narratives give different emotional feeling to the story.

Cube-S is the new and playful way of learning storytelling and storyboarding using the narratives from Panchatantra.
