Parched Puppy Water Conservation App

Parched Puppy is a concept for a water conservation tool devised as a group project in the Global Service Jam 2016. The challenge was working with a group of virtual strangers, using design thinking to solve the “wicked problem” of water conservation, in the span of a weekend. This included user research, testing, and validation. The Parched Puppy team consisted of Gopa Nair, Evan Colton, Ely Kimball, Karine Bailly and myself. All major concepts were resolved during this weekend. The subsequent work was only refinement and documentation.
Value Proposition
Adopt and raise a virtual puppy, who you can share with your friends. In addition, you’ll help the environment by becoming more conscious of your personal water usage. Help yourself, help your community, help the world.

Goal
To encourage water conservation by raising awaness of shower lengths, and how this affects household usage.

How it Works
Simple, easy to use mobile application. Uses campy humor and gamification to break down barriers to help solve a current global natural resource challenge. Designed to be integrated into a busy modern lifestyle with minimal effort, and also allow more in-depth involvment via social sharing, and data analysis, if so desired.
