Doing this thesis has quite been a challenge for me at the start as my only background in filmmaking was from school projects. I didn’t know where to start looking for films, which I can shoot behind the scenes for. After doing the interviews first, I got access to films the filmmakers I interviewed were working on. I had become more aware on how an actual film works. And I realized that despite whatever the outcome of the film is, every filmmaker and everyone on the set puts a lot of effort in creating it.
When I told Sir Torres, my thesis adviser, that I would like to do this topic, he asked if this would be feasible because I didn’t have any connections at all with anyone in the film industry. Mackie Galvez, a cinematographer, was the first one I interviewed. I had attended his talk back then with the Thomasian Film Society’s Summersault workshop seminar. I approached him after his talk again at UST for ITM. I soon interviewed other filmmakers as well like Pong Ignacio, Joel Ferrer, Carlo Manatad, etc. I had tried my luck contacting them through email and social media in hopes that they would be up for it. And thank God, they did. They have been very accommodating and very insightful.

The portraits are taken from different lighting conditions as we talked at coffee shops and my usual light source had been the assistive light in my phone. The photos were taken in such a way because it tells a lot about them as filmmakers who work behind the scenes.
