This is a proof of concept of the automated generation of customised soles using two data sources : the shape of the foot, acquired via a camera for instance, and pressure points imprinted on foam or gel.
The algorithm generates support structures around the pressure points to soften those areas while supporting them. The sole is meant to be 3D printed in soft material, or as a mold filled with a soft material, such as silicon.
This proof of concept was made with Rhinoceros Grasshopper.
