Pointcloud survey of part of the walls of Ravenna has been captured using Leica C-10 laser scanning technology.
The metric data has been used to define the correct lengh of the site where stood the ancient Roman gate called "Porta Aurea", the main important entrance to the city of Ravenna. The aim of the this survey was also to compare this new metric information with past surveys and validate the previous hypothesis about the location of the marble gate. Nowadays Porta Aurea does not exist anymore and only some fragments are preserved at the National Museum of Ravenna.
