This project involved designing a brochure for The Drawing Project gallery in Dun Laoghaire. The space is used as both a gallery and a teaching space and the client wished for its unusual multi-functional aspect to be fore fronted in the design. The Drawing Project is situated in the heart of the town and it is one of the first buildings to greet anyone getting off the DART or the 46A. Due to its location and multi purpose nature, the gallery has the unusual problem of wanting to attract both high-brow contemporary artists and critics as well as the general public. The client wanted the design to solve the problem of having two contradictory audiences.
My design is aimed to appeal to both audiences. There is a multi dimensional aspect to the layering of photography, type and hand drawn mark-making. It is designed to catch attention and, quite literally "make an impact."
