Jack Daniels Magazine Ad Concepts

Four single page adverts for Jack Daniels designed to run in either Spin or Rolling Stone magazine.

These ad concepts were originally contracted by Arnold Worldwide as brand explorations in positioning Jack Daniel's favorably with a 30-and-under aged market. Prior Jack Daniel's advertising relied heavily on lengthy copy and very traditional layout strategies that felt more at home in magazines like Time, Newsweek or The New Yorker.

These ads took existing brand assets (great taglines, vivid black-and-white photography, plus a longstanding brand history) and paired them with a postmodern layout sensibility to make the brand personality more familiar to a younger audience.

LCMS Adult Gathering Conference Advertisement

A single page advert for the 2007 LCMS Adult Gathering convention held in Orlando, Florida alongside the LCMS Youth Gathering. This ad was designed to run in
The Lutheran Witness, the main media channel for reaching members of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod – the primary audience for all convention materials.

The ad was developed to complement materials that adult congregation members would have already seen targeted at teens in their community.

Southern Comfort Magazine Ad Concept

This single page advert for Southern Comfort was designed to run in either Spin or Rolling Stone magazine. It was originally contracted by
Arnold Worldwide as a brand exploration in positioning Southern Comfort favorably with a 30-and-under aged market.

This ad concept was especially fun to produce because it involved an impromptu in-house photo shoot that I and my employer executed ourselves. We gathered a collection of eccentric, Mardi-Gras / party-themed props from our working studio, set up our faux-colada next to a set of neon lights and glass blocks in the studio space, tossed in some ice and shot away.

This photo / layout was my favorite out of the ten to fifteen concepts we produced in the space of a day on this project. Copy and the staged shot of the Southern Comfort bottle were provided by Arnold Worldwide.

LCEF provides and services loans that assist with school establishment and growth. In order to help their clientele thrive, LCEF produces and makes available high-quality marketing materials that schools can customize to promote themselves.

The Project School Zone campaign was created to raise awareness about this collection of marketing materials and to attract more schools to consider utilizing this low-cost option to help reach out to families in their surrounding neighborhoods. These ads were designed to run in larger newspaper-style publications.
