After doing several portrait studies I wanted to try something new (for myself at least) and decided on trying the Low Poly style, while playing around with different vibrant color combinations to see what would come out. It was good fun and helped me understand facial planes even more. If you're doing portrait studies I suggest giving it a try as well!
