KAKTOS is the origin of the word cactus in ancient Greek. The word kaktos is applied to a plants which has spiny thistles on it. A cactus symbolizes endurance and empowerment as it is a plant that can really stand up to the test of time and elements. There are many varieties of cactuses and this has thus inspired my work for my surface explorations. 

 

The explorations are displayed in the form of a cactuses to mimic the experience of viewing the surfaces of the cactuses.

The techniques explored for this project includes: Knitting, smocking, felting, applique, etching, etc.
