Under Armour BATTLE Compression

I designed UA Battle Compression for Spring 2010 as the follow-up to the iconic Blitz Football line, which set the industry standard of color blocked team colors. In addition to creation of the inline styles, these were also categorized by position and embellished by UA’s On-field Group for use in the College and NFL Combines.

The goal was to modernize Blitz through unique designs & printing, while maintaining  it’s color blocked vibe. In addition to the bold branding and tough look, what made this design unique was the 2-color printing technique on a third color material to achieve a tonal Camo look.

At that time sublimation printing was only done on white material to achieve the desired look, but always had a bit of white show-through of material. I wanted to achieve a true tonal look by over-printing colors onto the dyed material which had not been executed to this point. Although this technique was very innovative at the time, it is fairly common today.
