Loveless Whizzkid EP

THE REQUEST

When the Loveless Whizzkid asked me to design the cover of their new album, the Name Improvements for Everyday Stuff EP, they wanted something that would describe their new sound, much more brilliant then their previous album We were only trying to sleep.
The initial request was to look for a colorful and abstract visual, that was not due to a recognizable image.
HOW THE HELL?

After a few failed attempts, it turned out a new request by David Iannitti, guitarist, singer and composer of the band.
The good Iannitti wanted to include at any cost an old photo taken by him as a teenager on a hot summer afternoon, representing the fragment of an abandoned carousel.
The fragment was the head of a horse. Deliciously creepy.
But the problem was that on the one hand they wanted a visual abstract, on the other hand they wanted a horse.
How to do?
Did you see the horse?
AN AFTER EFFECTS "SYNTH"

I took advantage of the opportunity to create what I wanted to do for a long time: a sort of video synthesizer to digitally erode the image, playing with distortion e saturation with my favourite software of Adobe CC, After Effects.
The result was a violent and abstract visual, with a digital flavor and an aftertaste of a painting.
And the horse was finally there.
