SC2: Legacy of the Void Timelapse Digimatte Sequence

Motion Graphics
This is the 3D Digimatte sequence I created for StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void story campaign cinematics. When I was studying time lapses, things look almost miniature due to the lack of scale of time sped up. Again, the three planets in the sky represent the same three planets in the ending cinematic of the original StarCraft: Brood War cinematic of the Protoss campaign. My life, for Aiur!

The night time streaks on the ground represents probes and other lit units going about the city, with the final FX execution done by the magical Danielle Romero. The foreground valley, city buildings and distribution of instanced elements done by the awesome Toni Bratincevic. Animation of the Star Ports and flying ships by the cool James Crowson. Directed by Ben Dai. CG Supervision by Shimon Cohen. I created the rest of the environment (clouds, sky, planets, fog, bg mountains) using Vue with a combination of a matte painted sky at night, while lighting all of the foreground elements and animation warp ins using 3DS Max and Vray. Further comping of the Vue and Vray rendered assets done in Nuke, where I also did the tweaking the color temperatures and exposures through out the day/night time.

Thanks to everyone in this big team effort of a time lapse shot!
