Boeung Kak

The people of Boeung Kak, like many Cambodians, rely heavily on their tight social connections and intertwined communal relationships. The communal living model holistically engages participants through the application process, deconstruction/reconstruction process, and maintenance of social and physical structures, education systems, overall participation and community sufficiency. 
 
A Central House allows groups to streamline costs, utilities, and resources. Additionally, the House provides space for activities such as cooking, gathering water, doing laundry, bathing, and seeking sturdy shelter. The implications of the House includes the assurance that the whole community has access to a safe quality outlet. Additionally, the communal living model encourages pooling of resources to make provisions for all (i.e. money for food, time for childcare).
