Scottdale Green Streets - Graphic Renderings

Jacobs Creek Watershed Association (JCWA) of Westmoreland County, Pennsylvaniawas recently awarded a Section 319(h) grant for reduction of nonpoint sourcesof pollution to Jacobs Creek. With thisfunding, the Jacobs Creek Watershed Association is proposing to construct stormwater retrofits along several existing streets around Scottdale, transformingthem into more sustainable and aesthetically pleasing “Green Streets”, designedin accordance with the recommendations of the PaDEP Storm Water Manual and theEPA Green Streets Program. Given theurban nature of the streets in Scottdale and the amount of existing impervioussurface cover, there are numerous opportunities to introduce new Green Streetfeatures within the project area. Notonly will these features reduce runoff and improve water quality to JacobCreek, as intended, they have the potential to enhance the overall aesthetics ofScottdale as a whole. Moreover, studieshave shown that significant streetscape enhancement and beautificationprojects, such as this one, can provide real economic benefits to those businessesthat choose to operate in Scottdale.

The proposed project is contained within the Right-of-Way ofseveral existing streets in the commercial district of Scottdale:
