In many homes, especially in modern urban environments, people can not afford to sacrifice space for a dedicated workplace. Desks designed for the office ends up invading people's living rooms and bedrooms.
My goal was to create a desk that best responds to how people use their personal spaces and work spaces at home.
The Essex desk is designed high enough to be used as a standing desk, or seated at with a tall stool, suited for multitasking. The relatively small footprint is well suited for homes with less space.
The relationship formed between the different materials, cement, aluminium, and walnut, adds sophistication to the design.
