Die design for metal stamping of automotive safety part

Progressive Stamping Die
Used to mass produce small sheet metal parts.
This design is of a sheet metal stamping tool used to mass produce (in quantities in excess of 1 million parts) a small sheet metal part. The part consists of bends, pierced holes, counter bores, Countersinks, lances, dimples, and an emboss. Many of these features needed to be held within very tight tolerances. The tool was precisely designed and manufactured with tolerances within one one-thousandth of an inch. This tool takes a three inch wide piece of continuous sheet metal and throughout twenty stations produces the final part.
