Frances - DVD Cover Layout - 2015
Greta Gerwig is probably one of my favorite actors and filmmakers. Her role in Frances Ha was amazing, and I love the movie. I decided to design my own DVD cover of the film. My goal was to use visual elements in order to communicate the personality of the movie. I started with minimal color because it's a black and white film. I illustrated the New York City skyline, and a Frances when she's running through the streets. After bringing in the illustration, I added pops of peachy-pink because Frances is such a youthful and quirky character. I wanted the typography to convey the contrast of her personality, bold and youthful, to the reality of her friends growing up without her.
