During the International Contemporary Art Fair in Athens; Art Athina 2016, Papastratos CMC SA - one of the largest tobacco companies in Greece since the ‘30s - launched a promotional campaign for their Assos Anef cigarettes brand. 

 

The brand name Assos Anef uses the greek words meaning “one” and “without” respectively. “One” is the central brand name implying the best. Anef, on the other hand, is the name that characterizes the blend and as a word-meaning emphasizes the absence of artificial additives. 

 

Their promo concept evolved into 3 stages. At first, the audience was invited to write on a wall one or more things they would like to leave out of their life. Secondly, to write on the opposite wall what is their No One thing in life. Lastly, to craft their t-shirt by using stencils and/or free-hand or both.

 

I was assigned to design the stencils that visitors would use based on the brand’s iconic old cigarette packs. Inspired by the Constructivist and Bauhaus attributes of the packs, series of stencils were designed offering numerous combinations for visitors to play with.
