In 2000 a friend asked if I would like to design a logo for a sports team. Not knowing anything about the project, I enthusiastically said yes. The WUSA was about to begin its inaugural season and Boston had a team, the Breakers. While this version isn't the final logo used, it's pretty close. I prefer this one as the wave breaking out of the crest is far more dynamic and energetic, and the style is more iconic and in keeping with traditional sports branding. I also prefer the type lockup of "Boston" and "Breakers" as it works equally as well as a secondary logo without the crest.
