Fake My Tan Product Photography (2010)
The Lee Stafford Fake My Tan range was launched in 2010—a brand extension to fake tan products and was launched with nine products—of which I was responsible for eight products and the group shot (above).
The Fake My Tan range suffers from the same issue as the Lee Stafford Pink Range, that being that it's signature pinks, particularly Pantone Rhodamine Red fall outside of the CMYK Gamut. This means that the colour correction has to be carefully achieved to create the best shade of pink without the highlights pushing through the limits, or the pink becoming too red.
Fake My Tan, unlike the core range, has the advantage that the range shares the same components allowing for a single 'blank' to be shared throught the "straight" shots. A blank was created for both the spritz and cream packaging, which was retouched, corrected and then the individual label reapplied as a vector to retain sharpness.
In keeping with the branding of creating a 'skewed' shot, each product had a personal shot taken using a fish-eye lens - these shots are grounded with shadows which in this case feature a sun motif hidden within the shadow.
