EXTREME JUMPING
My client likes 'extreme' concepts in their marketing and wanted something eye catching to help distinguish them from their competitors in top industry print publications.
We used a shot of a client-sponsored competitor. The shot was obtained for generic use and was our starting-point.
This stock photo of clouds was selected as they were easily recognizable as clouds and presented a solid form that looked like an obstacle. The saturated blue background creates depth and sets up the clouds as objects in the sky.
The rider was removed from the original background. The horses mane and tail were feathered so as to blend with the new background. Cast shadows were added to the front of the cloud to help provide a sense of depth. A separate layer was added and feathered to obscure the rear of the horse.
A headline was created in Adobe Illustrator and added in Photoshop to create more depth. Effects were added to visually reinforce the idea of vertical height and movement. This was one typographic concept that wasn't chosen by the client for the final ad.
Final print advertisement in trade publication.
