On September 10th, 2015, An Post issued a new set of stamps to illustrate the five senses. An enhanced production technique was used for each one. Flavoured gum was incorporated to delight the taste buds. Heat sensitive ink revealed the power of touch and transparent film illustrated the infinite nature of sight. A thin layer of embedded crystals produced a sound when rubbed and finally scent was unlocked by using the scratch and smell technique.
The stamps also incorporated image recognition technology, which when scanned on a mobile phone using the CEE App automatically connects to online content on each of the five senses.
