Gameplay (1998)

Gameplay is a collaborative installation created by myself and Anthony Hunt at Grey Area Art Space, Melbourne in 1998.

Gameplay is a site-specific installation, comprising an L shaped platform, secured to the gallery walls, Playstation console, television and surround sound speakers. The person 'siting' the gallery during opening hours, would play video games whilst siting on the constructed platform. From the entrance into the gallery, you could only see what looked like a wall suspended between two of the gallery walls , the sound of muffled audio encouraged curious patrons to duck down and walk under the construction. Only on reaching the back of the gallery and looking up did you notice the person 'siting' the gallery playing games ontop of the platform.
