TONANTZIN & THE VIRGIN OF GUADALUPE CALENDAR 2012
This calendar explores the symbolism and stories behind these two very important figures in the cultural development, life and beliefs of the people of Mexico. The year is divided in two halves to be shared by both deities, presenting the coexistence and interlapping of ideologies and cultures. The symbols for the moon and the sun are important in both religions, and also communicate the concepts of day and night, male and female, duality and coexistence, harmony and life.
Commissioned by Mr. José Ramón Olmo-Olmo, in celebration of the 481st anniversary of the first apparition of the Virgin of Guadalupe in the Hill of Tepeyac, Mexico.

Este calendario explora los simbolismos e historias detrás de estas dos figuras trascendentales en el desarrollo cultural, la vida y las creencias del pueblo mejicano. El año está dividido en dos mitades a ser compartido por ambas diosas, y presenta la coexistencia y superposición de ideologías y culturas. Los símbolos de la luna y el sol son importantes en ambas religiones, y además comunican los conceptos del día y la noche, hombre y mujer, dualidad y coexistencia, armonía y vida.

Also known as Coatlicue, she is the Earth, Moon and Sun Goddess, Mother of all gods, Mother Earth, Mother of the Serpent God. Tonantzin is also a general title for female Aztec deities.
También conocida como Coatlicue, ella es la Diosa de la Tierra, la Luna y el Sol, Madre de todos los Dioses, Madre Tierra, Madre del Dios Serpiente. Tonantzin es un título general utilizado para diosas femeninas Aztecas.
VIRGIN OF GUADALUPE / LA VIRGEN DE GUADALUPE
The Virgin of Guadalupe is a catholic icon of the Virgin Mary, also known as Queen of Mexico, La Virgen Morena (the Dark Virgin) and Our Lady of Guadalupe. Her iconic image includes references to Aztec Gods, and her attributes resemble those of Tonantzin. Her robe tells the story of the Aztec/Nahuatl people.
La Virgen de Guadalupe es un ícono católico de la Virgen María, también conocída como Reina de México, La Virgen Morena y Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe. Su imagen icónica incluye referencias a dioses Aztecas, y sus atributos se asemejan a los de Tonantzin. Su vestimenta cuenta la historia del pueblo Azteca/Nahuatl.
