Väre is a “Speakerwear” concept for a Helsinki Based speaker company, Uploud Audio. The task was to study different kinds of materials and trends and based on the studies to produce a new design for their Speakerwear, a textile cover that goes on the speaker like a pillowcase. I used polyester felt for my prototype because it performed better in the sound tests than the original material used by the company. It also worked really nicely with a laser cutter which I wanted to use in this project. Väre means Ripple in Finnish.
