Portraitist [ˈpɔːtrɪtɪst -treɪ-]
An artist, photographer, etc., who specializes in portraits
I am a Portraitist. I am amongst a small group of individuals continuing and exploring the grand tradition and the medium of photographic portraiture.
In the past, to have your Portrait taken, meant that you were somebody, it was a thing of status. Today everybody wants to feel like they are somebody and this is fueling the revival in the art of bespoke photographic portraiture.
Today my role as a Portraitist is to elevate the status of my subjects, in a way that allows other people to see the true person, feel their emotion and to feel like we have gained some insight into the persons character, simply by seeing their photograph.
The great and the good are seeking out specialist Portraitists for the images that they would have represent themselves. This is fueling the revival in the art of bespoke photographic portraiture.
Actors, Actresses, Musicians, Sports People, Business leaders and Politicians need for their image to be distinctive. Not all photographers are created equal, only a small percentage of us have this unique ability to create the conditions in which the images that we make, defines an individual in ways that would make others care, hold your attention and change your perspective.
Every Portrait I make, is as individual as the person in front of my camera. It is my responsibility to interpret to the best of my ability, the inner strength, the true character, of these personalities and make work that is distinctive and memorable for my subjects, clients and myself.

If it's a likeness, alone, it's not a success. If, through my portraits, you can come to know the subjects more meaningfully, if it synthesizes your feelings toward someone whose work has imprinted itself on your mind--if you see a photograph and say, 'Yes, this is the person,' with a little new insight--that is a beautiful experience. -
