Adidas Originals Los Angeles

FW15 /// Adidas Originals

Based on one of the most iconic shoes adidas has ever made: the L.A. Trainer. Originally launched for the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games, it first became a running and training favorite with its adjustable plugs and later made quite a career as an Originals come-back version a decade ago. In 2015, the Los Angeles shoe brings back the comfy and lightweight feeling of sunny California, portraying a new and modernized design.
Supported by a German-made Continental rubber outsole and cushy midsole, this crispy iteration of the sneaker is ready for the streets.

Creative direction: S.Handy & O.Unnasch
Development: V.Zhang & A.Hess
Support: I.Nganga

Some sketches during the design process, the goal was to keep elements from the adidas collective memory and giving a modern look to the new silhouette. The construction of the shoe helps to play the color blocking in many different ways and it's a blank canvas to combine different materials.
The Continental rubber outsole shows an organic design linked to the original l.a.trainer sole unit.
