Contemporary Electric Guitar
Named after the huichol word for peyote (hikuri)HKR is an electric guitar that aims to incorporate elements of a contemporaryaesthetic and built in sound manipulation technology. Its ergonomic centereddesign maximizes playability by incorporating changes in the “classic” shape ofan electric guitar that facilitate interpretation and practice from a seatedposition, drastically reducing injuries caused by repetition.
Making use of a “fanned fret” or “multi-scale” fretboard HKR adapts itself to a more natural and comfortable fretting technique, following a more logical movement of the hand along the guitar’s neck.
The neck-through construction of its ash and bocote wood body creates a one piece structure that facilitates access to the higher frets while maintaining a flowing and organic shape.
A built-in optic wah system allows the user to manipulate the sound of the instrument by waving its hand over the optic sensor.
The project was developed by Mexican design student Eduardo Hernández and hand built by México City based luthier Lizet Albor of Albor Guitars, with the optic wah system provided by Noise Makers.
