Fladrif Animation (my honors project)

Hello!
I have a real pleasure to finally present a short video I had been working on for a number of months as a part of my graduation honours project. It's been a lot of fun and hard work to put those couple shots togather but the final result was worth it. Please take a moment to watch and enjoy the video :)
Fladrif has been my first project on such scale and I knew right from begging - if I am to pull it off I need to do some sirious planning. Pre-production phase was a lot of fun! Coming up with different character designs, sets and locations, drawing storyboards, gathering filming equipment, logistics.... many, many things had to be considered. Finally I decided to shot on location in Poland close to Książ castle. The area is scattered with old, European beeches, interesting rock formations and there are orange leaves on the ground everywhere. Whole place feels magical when the wind rattles through the woods. Precicly what I needed. After half hour walk through woods and caring all cameras, lenses, tripods and sliders we arrived to the first location and filming begun!
But before heading out to the woods, there's been a lot of storyboarding, sketching, timing shots and making sure it works with the music. Each shot has been planned carefully. Let me take you through some of my initial ideas although, they differ from the final piece quite a lot!
Final  front view ready to be imported to 3ds max as a referance image for modeling.
Fladrif - side view
Nearly finalised sculpt. Whole sculpting process has been done in Autodesk Mudbox.
All models featured in the movie has been created in Autodesk 3ds Max. It's been a great learning curve and a challange to keep the project on track and making sure I was hitting project milestones on schedule. The final turntable model preview has been rendered out using Vray rendering engine.
For the most comprehensive project overview I suggest you watch my "Flardif - Making Of" video. I talk about every stage of the project from preproduction, design, filming, SFX to postproduction and colour grading. I go into much greater detail on modeling and rigging the character as well as animation aspects and camera match moving. Hope you'll find it interesting and learn something new from it :)
Thanks for spending time with Fladrif!
