The Logo is made of 3 parts
1- The shield
2- The 3 judges that represent the court in Egypt (Also forming the letter ش for شهود or Witnesses)
3- The Justice balance, through which this legal alliance believes this is the way to protect witnesses and reporters from any harm (physical or legal)
The alliance was formed after the Shaimaa Al-sabbagh murder, when the witnesses were transformed to defendants by the prosecution after the prosecution heard their stories.
It's formed by Lawyers, Legal researchers and destinguished representatives of the Human rights scene in Egypt.
One of the alliance founder is Women Rights Lawyer Azza Soliman who is also one of the victims of such an absence for that law. She witnessed the Murder of Shaimaa Al-Sabbagh by absolute accident while having lunch with her family at a restaurant across the st. where Shaimaa was taken down by a Police officer.
She (Azza) went to practice her constitutional right, and tolerated interrogation under tough circumstances (interrogations were held at 3:00 am and finished at 7:00 am approx.) and was shocked to hear she and all the other witnesses are sent to defendants list, under Allegations of Breaking the protest law.
