Nosgoth is a Free-to-Play Multiplayer game developed by Psyonix and Square Enix. My role on Nosgoth was primarily creating UI mockups and preparing assets to be implemented in Flash. I created some simple wireframes on features that were in early stages of development, Flash animations to work out timing and transitions, and Photoshop mockups for new UI functionality in the Nosgoth style. That style was well documented in a detailed style guide, which I often referenced to maintain stylistic and functional continuity.
The two screens above are mock-ups for the Daily Rewards system that were animated, and later implemented in Flash. The design was for the player to be rewarded a series of increasing rewards for consecutive days playing the game. One of the challenges was that the reward was randomly selected from 3 pools of possible rewards, so the representation of the tier progression had to be simple and clear without being specific.
Loading icon mock-ups. These were meant to work in multiple contexts, and will probably need some tuning after initial implementation.
Two possibilities for banner selection using the existing HUD.
Style exploration of shield icons with radial meters.
This mock-up shows different possibilities for materials and borders used to show item rarity. Items with the same in-game representation were assigned different rarity, which had to be displayed in the UI. The challenge was to clearly show the rarity progression, with minimal changes to existing item icons, and without making an entire grid of items become overly busy.
More versions of materials, and glows to display item rarity. By this pass the design had changed to 3 tiers of rarity instead of a simple progression.
