Fantasy Gamer's Conclave event poster 2015

Every year the Triangle Chapter of the Knight Order of the Fiat Lux, or KOFL for short, holds an event to raise money for the Autism Society of North Carolina. A weekend long game convention called the "Fantasy Gamers' Conclave", more commonly known as the FGC.

As a member of the organization I try to provide well designed content for events as well as push myself to give them the very best I can create, as this poster is indicative of. The design itself has been in my sketch book since the first event I was a member for but was unable to implement due to my lacking skills in illustration, a problem for an image centric advertisement. As such when faced with the need for an updated poster I sought help from an illustrator friend of mine, Tyler Frenette.

After discussing the rough of the design, to include its use of space and figures to draw the viewers eye around the poster, he suggested an 8 bit approach, several mock ups where presented to the event organizer who agreed.  After receiving the final illustration I started work on the posters body copy, the detail of the illustration overpowered the original text so research started on methods to accommodate this. Drawing inspiration from RPG manuals such as Pathfinder I redesigned the copy with layered backgrounds, boarders and a complementary color scheme to the red in KOFLS' coat of arms.

Presented is a low resolution verion of the final poster used for the event.
