These are a few long exposure photographs I had taken for a project on moving objects that make patterns. I had taken a 1 minute exposure of a swinging LED stuck to a battery and tried to recreate a harmonograph using strings that were attached to two different points on the cieling. By changing the distance between the strings, I was able to get multiple patterns that created very different shapes every time I swung the LED. These pictures show the butterfly effect, where a small change can lead to a drastic change in the final outcome.
This picture really intrigued me as it came out more squarish compated to the other ones. It was also one of those patterns that kept appearing many times as I tried different lengths. I tried to recreate this pattern on the program Scratch and figured out that it was one of those patterns create by two circles in a harmonic version.
