Packaging for CFLs made of Molded Pulp

CFL Packaging made of Molded Pulp

Student Work, december 2011
This project I made in quite a hurry. We had to find a packaging that we had some issue with and then we had to deal with that issue.
I really like moulded pulp as packaging material and I decided that I'd like to use it but when I looked around in my kitchen I found nothing suitable. But then I thought of CFLs and that they always come in blister packaging, and no consumer likes blister and neither do I. And light bulbs are kind of egg shaped so I just took a six-pack of eggs and adjusted it to fit the bulbs.
The main adjustment was to make the holes in the top as to allow the sockets to be visible and available for testing.
I didn't have time to model a lock for the lid, and I'm not pleased with the texture on the packaging, I would like to  have been able to spend some more time experimenting to make it look more like molded pulp.
But as always, it was fun to render the models, and I'm well pleased with the result.
Look how happy the CFLs look when they can exit their packaging with such an ease! No blister packaging to be cut open with scissors or knives any more! And friendly to the environment as well...
We had to add a QR-code as well, this code has information about the dangers of the mercury in the CFLs and what to do if a CFL breaks while burning, and the importance of recycling.
