Tuck Everlasting Book Design

Designed in late 2014 for a second-year Communication Design course, this cover jacket design for the children's classic by Natalie Babbit was approached in two different ways. The final design utilized a narrative approach to representing the novel; an illustration of the tree and setting prevalent in the story was completed with careful colour and typographic choices to create an aesthetic that straddled the boundary between childhood nostalgia and adult sensibility. Babbit's novel is written for the age groups of 8 to 14, with content that an even older audience may still enjoy and find quite thought-provoking. The design appeals to both the younger, and possible older target audiences of the subject matter.

A secondary component to the project was to design an electronic newsletter promotion sent through online email marketing providers, such as mailchimp.com. The newsletter included a synopsis of the book and promotional copy.
