Based on a simple kinetic logic in which virtual band-like surfaces "unfold" in a spiral motion, with one edge of the band fixed close to the central axis as the other edge progressively grows away fromt the axis.

 

The resulting forms are created in 3D vector space, but the visual space (reinforced by color and lack of shading) is one of flatness. The appearance of space is negated by rendering the geometry as bold planes of flat color, presenting as a hypnotist's spiral.
