This project was conceived and curated by Kelsey Trottier (https://www.linkedin.com/pub/kelsey-trottier/8b/a46/784) in November of 2014. The question was how across platforms, mediums, and locations could we inspire each other? How could we create something of value from this collaboration? Through her internship at The Dance Complex she coordinated their community to combine with the one at MassArt. Working with movers, makers, thinkers, writers, and technology, each group created a spectacular piece. I had the pleasure of working with Jenny Proscia, performance artist, Holly Thompson, author of many young adult novels, and Raquel Kober, cellist. Following our first meeting we continued to meet and keep in contact via email. Many months and iterations of the project later, we chose to do a projection-mapped arch paired with an audio score by Raquel, movement in the video with Jenny, and 5 movements written by Holly.

 

Working with new collaborators outside of MassArt was a great opportunity. We challenged each other’s ideas, questioned logistics, and tested and re-tested versions of the project.

 

Kelsey was persistent in updating the website. We submitted process work, photos, videos, etc, to show where we were in the project. It was exciting to see the other group’s work on the site too. It kept the creative morale high and the energy of the collaboration going.

 

The first exicution of the show took place in the Pozen Center at MassArt on March 7th, 2015. The second was at The Dance Complex in Cambridge, Ma on March 15th, 2015.
